Kay Gardner
A musical prodigy, Gardner was a musician, composer, author and musical producer. Born in Freeport New York, she publicly played her first composition, a piano piece, when she was 4 years old. Gardner began performing on the flute when she was eight and in her early 20s, she performed in coffeehouses throughout California. She later performed as flute soloist with chamber groups and orchestras.

John Luther Adams
John Luther Adams was born on January 23, 1953 in Meridian, Mississippi. Adams composes music for television, film, children’s theater, voice, acoustic instruments, orchestra, and electronics. Much of Adams’ work is inspired by nature. His compositions echo the vast, open landscapes of Alaska and the Far North. He does not attempt to represent nature through music.

Philip Glass
Although up to now, only one composer has been featured, I’ll be making periodic changes on a regular basis. To set this process in motion, I have chosen an innovative American composer, who is still actively composing. Philip Glass has extended his considerable talents into many genres of music. The selections presented emphasize Glass’s wide range of compositional activity.

Daniel Catan
Daniel Catan was born in Mexico City of Russian Sephardic Jewish descent. He studied philosophy and music in England before earning a Ph.D. in Music Composition and Theory at Princeton University. Aside from his music compositions, Catan published many articles on music and the arts in the most prominent literary journals of Mexico.
