Natural Sounds

Sounds of nature and the human environment.

Lullaby from the Womb

Hajime Murooka, M.D., a noted Professor of Gynacology at Japan’s Nippon Medical University, discovered through his research with sounds from within the mother’s womb discovered that these sounds coupled with restful classical music was an effective method of calming restless infants. He also found this method calmed overly stressed adults as well. Two examples of this method are featured here:

  1. Sounds of mother’s womb with Wolf-Ferrari’s Intermezzo from his opera “The Jewels of the Madonna”
  2. Sounds of mother’s womb with Schumann’s Traumerei from “Scenes from Childhood”
